Couse Descriptions:
The event will consist of a 2km ocean swim commencing and finishing at Main Beach Forster, a 60km bike leg and a 15km run leg.
Swim
The 2km swim course will consist of two laps of a 1km rectangular course.
The course layout will be set on the day according to the sea and weather
conditions.
Bike
The bike leg is two laps of a 30km course that will take competitors from the transition area in North St, right onto West St and then left onto Head St. The competitors continue along Head St until they reach the Macintosh St intersection at which point they will turn right onto Macintosh St. Competitors will travel south on Macintosh St and continue onto The Lakes Way until they reach the first turnaround point at Tiona. At that point they will do a U turn and head north back towards Forster and onto Macintosh St. At the Macintosh St / Head St intersection competitors will turn left onto Head St and continue up to the next turnaround point just west of the Macintosh St / Beach St roundabout. At this point competitors will complete another U turn and head west along Head St past the Head St / West St intersection for the completion of the first lap of two laps. The following lap is along the same route as the first lap. On completion the their second lap, competitors will turn left off Head St onto West St and then left onto North St for return to the transition area. At this point competitors will dismount from their bikes, stow their bikes and commence the run leg.
Run
The run leg will be two laps of a 7.5km course (total 15km) and will commence at transition area from where the competitors will run along the path that goes around the front of the headland towards the southern breakwall/Dolphin Dr where they will continue left onto the footpath/edge of Dolphin Dr, then turn left onto Oyster Pde, then right onto the lane west of Reserve Rd. From here competitors run onto the footpath and then onto the bridge footpath heading towards Tuncurry. At the Tuncurry end of the bridge, competitors follow the path around to the right onto John Wright Park. At the northern end of John Wright Park, competitors will cross Ray St and continue north up Loeamato Cl and then follow the footpath that leads to Rockpool Rd. >From here they will run along the edge of Rockpool Rd until they reach the Rockpool Carpark where they will run around the turnaround point and return to Oyster Pde Forster along the same route. Competitors will then turn left onto Oyster Pde then right along Dolphin Drive. From here competitors will run along the footpath/edge of the road until they reach the path that runs past the Coastal Patrol HQ and around the front of the Headland and back to the transition area at Main Beach Forster. Competitors then run southeast along North St, at the end of which they will run onto and along the bush track and walking path that head towards Bennett Head Reserve until they reach the turnaround point where they turnaround and head back along the same course to North St. On North St, on completion of the first lap, competitors will continue up North St towards the transition area, where they will commence their second lap along the same course as the first. On completion of their second lap on North St, competitors will run up the finish Shute and through the finish arch to complete the event.
