Forster Triathlon & Multi Sport Approved Road Closures & Restrictions
The event routes for the weekends activities were carefully selected inconsideration of the safety of participants, spectators, other road users and with as minimal impact to local residents. We fully understand that this event will have some impact and inconvenience to residents. We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience and ask that during these short periods of inconvenience you.
Remember – The 4 Ps: Prior Planning, Patience & Politeness. This will assist in a safe and happy day for all athletes, visitors, 350 volunteers, and the public.
Note – All of the following options have been approved by the NSW Police, RTA, Great Lakes Council, Great Lakes Tourism, and Great Lakes International Triathlon Association . These closures have been raised will with Great Lakes Chamber of Commerce for approval and any business that this may affect we will liaise with individually through the local Chamber of Commerce.
THE LAKES WAY WILL BE CLOSED FROM 7:30 AM TO 10:30 AM between Southern Parkway & Tiona (Sunday 19th October 20)
Transition, Bike and Run Course Road Closures
The following road closures are approved for the safe and timely setup, use and pack up of the Transition area, the finish chute and the finish arch (emergency and official vehicles exempt):-
- a) Road closure of North St between Beach St and West St intersections is requested from 9:00 am Thursday 16th October until 6:00 pm Monday 20th October 2008 inclusive.
- b) Limited access (emergency, life guard, café staff and official vehicles exempt) to Beach St north (beach side) of North Ln from 5:00 am through to 3:00 pm Saturday 18th October 2008 and 5:00 am through to 2:00 pm Sunday 19th October 2008.
- c) Closure of the Car park at the northern end of North St is requested from 9:00 am Thursday 16th October until 6:00 pm Monday 20th October 2008 inclusive.
The following road closures (emergency and official vehicles exempt as well as heavy vehicles where detailed) are requested for Saturday 18th October 2008:-
- d) Total road closure of North St from 5:00 am through to the completion of the MINIMAN Triathlon (12 to 16 yo) at approximately 11:55 am.
- e) Road closure of West St from North St to Head St from 5:00 am through to the completion of the Fun run, at approximately 5:00 pm.
- f) Road closure of Oyster Pde from 5:00 am through to the completion of the Fun run, at approximately 5:00 pm.
- g) Closure of the Forster / Tuncurry Bridge Footpath from 7:00 am through to the completion of the Sprint Triathlon at approximately 9:15 am
- h) Road closure (heavy vehicles exempt) of Head St from the Beach St intersection roundabout through to the Macintosh St intersection from 5:00 am through to the completion of the Elite Criterium (cycle race) at approximately 2:45 pm.
- i) Road closure of Head St from the Macintosh St intersection roundabout through to the Hadley St intersection from 5:00 am through to the completion of the Enticer Triathlon bike leg at approximately 10:00 am.
- j) Road closure of Head St from Cross St through to the Hadley St intersection from 4:00 pm through to the completion of the Fun Run at approximately 5:00 pm.
- k) Road closure of Bennett Head Rd from the Hadley St intersection through to the Boundary St intersection from 4:00 pm through to the completion of the Fun Run at approximately 5:00 pm.
- l) One third road closure (western edge) closure of Boundary St from Bennett Head Rd through to the Lincoln St intersection and Lincoln St (northern edge) from 4:00 pm through to the completion of the Fun Run at approximately 5:00 pm.
- m) Road closure of Hadley St from Head St through to the Lake St intersection from 5:00 am through to the completion of the Australian Sprint Championships Triathlon bike leg at approximately 8:30 am.
- n) Road closure of Lake St from Head St east for approximately 250m from 5:00 am through to the completion of the Australian Sprint Championships Triathlon bike leg at approximately 8:30 am.
- o) Road closure (heavy vehicles exempt) of Macintosh St from Lake St though to the roundabout at the Mark St intersection from 5:00 am through to the completion of the Australian Sprint Championships Triathlon bike leg at approximately 8:30 am.
- p) Road closure (heavy vehicles exempt) of Macintosh St from Head St though to the Lake St intersection from 5:00 am through to the completion of the Elite Criterium (cycle race) at approximately 2:45 pm.
The following road closures (emergency and official vehicles exempt as well as heavy vehicles where detailed) are requested for Sunday 19th October 2008 for the running of the NSW Long Course Championships Triathlon:-
- q) Total road closure of North St from 5:00 am through to the completion of the event at approximately 1:00 pm.
- r) Road closure of West St from North St to Head St from 5:00 am through to the completion of the event at approximately 1:00 pm.
- s) Road closure of Oyster Pde from 7:00 am until after the last competitor has run past this point for the final time at approximately 11:30 am.
- t) Closure of the Forster / Tuncurry Bridge Footpath from 8:30 am until after the last competitor has run past this point for the final time at approximately 11:30 am.
- u) Road closure of Leoamato Cl from 8:00 am until after the last competitor has run past this point for the final time at approximately 11:30 am.
- v) One third road closure (southern side) of Rockpool Rd from Wharf St to the Rock pool Car park from 8:00 am until after the last competitor has run past this point for the final time at approximately 11:30 am.
- w) Road closure (heavy vehicles exempt) of Head St from the Beach St intersection roundabout through to the Macintosh St intersection from 6:30 am through to the completion of the bike leg at approximately 10:30 am.
- x) Road closure (heavy vehicles exempt) of Macintosh St from Head St though to the roundabout at the Mark St intersection from 6:30 am through to the completion of the bike leg at approximately 10:30 am.
Note that the heavy vehicle access onto roads otherwise closed to traffic will be controlled by approved traffic control marshals and heavy vehicles will only be allowed to proceed when it is safe to do so.
